Rugged scenery combined with trophy elk and mule deer herds makes the 21,700 deeded acre Sawtooth Shadows Ranch a New Mexico dream ranch for sportsmen with a special appreciation for Southwestern culture, history and landscape. Located in northeastern Catron County near the fabled mesa-top pueblo of Acoma, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundations Double H Ranch, the territory around Sawtooth Shadows Ranch remains largely unchanged from when it was settled by the ancestors of the Acoma and Navajo tribes millenia ago, and hardy ranchers a century ago. Even today, petroglyphs and artifacts of Native American culture are common on the ranch, as are remnants of several homesteads from New Mexico's pioneer days. The Sawtooth Shadows Ranch lies in the high New Mexico desert at elevations from 6700 to 7700 feet. Dominating the southern skyline are the rugged Sawtooth Mountains and the Datil Mountains in the Cibola National Forest, a refuge for some of the largest elk in the west. Fortunately for hunters, the ranch shares a 14-mile boundary with the National Forest and its elk (many bulls in the 400-plus class) freely range into the pinon/juniper and ponderosa forests of Sawtooth Shadows Ranch as well. The fact that approximately thirty landowner bull elk tags come with the ranch and that it lies in Unit 13, a primitive weapons area for elk, makes this ranch perfectly situated as a trophy elk ranch with a distinctive Southwestern flavor. Other game abounds on Sawtooth Shadows, including huge mule deer in the 200-plus class (open to rifle hunting), mountain lion, black bear, pronghorn, turkey, and small game. A remarkable diversity of terrain from sweeping mesas, sandstone cliffs, rolling grasslands and arroyos invites days of exploration and gives the wildlife plenty of habitat from which to choose. An intermittent drainage, Alamocito Creek, runs through nearly 20 miles of the ranch and provides seeps and seasonal water to supplement numerous wells and tanks on the property. Cattle ranching and trophy elk hunting combine well at Sawtooth Shadows, and numerous ranch improvements can support at least 200 head of cattle year-round. The ranch has power and phone and includes a roomy ranch house, a recently renovated bunkhouse, cookhouse, and an authentic Navajo hogan, fully renovated for guest use. Sawtooth Shadows Ranch is located equidistant from Pie Town, New Mexico to the southwest, Acoma Pueblo to the north. Year-round access is via well maintained roads 16 miles from Pie Town, and 20 miles from Datil, New Mexico. Like all of the Southwest, Sawtooth Shadows Ranch is much better experienced than described. Harrigan Land Company would be privileged to introduce you to the very magical part of the Great Southwest called Sawtooth Shadows Ranch.

This luxurious and fully equipped villa occupies a beautiful, sunny location on a small hill. Everything has been thought of – there’s even an Internet connection. The house and all facilities were constructed in 2006. There are several terraces (covered), one with a fireplace / barbeque. Around the pool you’ll find sun beds and lots of grass. Fruit trees give you the opportunity (in season) to pick your own oranges and squeeze your own orange juice. Fun places to visit nearby include: Leiria, with its medieval Castelo de Leiria (castle). Throughout the city you will find historic testimony of the faith that the city once exuded such as in Se Cathedral. If you drive in a southerly direction, past the orchards, you will come to Batalha. Founded in thanksgiving for a major military victory in 1385, the Batalha Monestary (Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitoria de Batalha) is an excellent example of medieval Portuguese and was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1983. Slightly northeast of Batalha is Fatima, a renowned pilgrimage site. Slightly further east lies the peaceful town of Tomar. Each stone here testifies to an eventful past. This is a great place to walk and admire the pretty facades of houses, churches and other buildings. Slightly south, along the coast, lies picturesque Nazaré. In this typical Portuguese fishing village time seems to have stood still. Because there is no port, the fishermen bring the ships to the beach using oxen. Many women still do their laundry in the river. At night, when the fishermen return, there is always a pleasant crowd to great them. The fish dry on shelves at the beach. Other attractions include the Largo do Seminario, the Largo Central and the Portas do Sol, and the nineteenth century Belvedere with magnificent gardens of which one overlooks the Tagus River. You also have a beautiful view of the city from the Tower das Cabacas. This tower, also known as Torre do Relogio, once served as a watch tower. The view from here is really overwhelming. Distances: The airport is 45km; the coast 65km; supermarket 1km; golf course 15km; Lisbon 50 kilometers. This luxurious detached villa is suitable for up to 12 persons. The total (residential) area of the villa is approximately 300m2 meters. The format is as follows: a hall and a living room with large windows plus a door opening to the terrace. The living room is equipped with a flat screen TV (with remote and Dutch channels), a fireplace and DVD player. The villa has a large open American-style kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove with extraction fan, microwave, dishwasher, oven and washing machine as well as complete dinnerware for the stated number of guests. Also found in the villa are five bedrooms with a total of eight single beds, one double bed and one bunk bed. There are also three bathrooms each with a shower, bathtub and washbasin. There are three separate toilets in the villa. Duvets, linen, kitchen linen, towels and pillows are available. The garden is 1100 m2 and completely surrounds the villa. There are several terraces in the garden as well as your own private pool (9 x 4 meters). Moreover, the garden also contains chairs and a barbecue. In this house a maximum of two pets will be allowed. Internet is present and smoking is also allowed. Bicycles and a baby bed are available upon request. Foros de Salvaterra is a village in the Portuguese municipality of Salvaterra de Magos. Salvaterra is a small, traditional village of 4,017 inhabitants located 45 km northeast of the heart of Portugal, Lisbon. It is a place where you can step back in time, where everything is still done the traditional way. Salvaterra has a beautiful, unspoiled nature, a warm climate and plenty of opportunity for golf (nearby). For centuries Portugal was a part of the Islamic civilization and traces of that culture can still be seen here. From the Moorish occupation the Portuguese inherited their great love for Azulejos (glazed tiles). The typical 16th century Manueline style architecture of Portugal is a 16th-century style characterized by rich - even [to unsympathetic eyes] extravagant - decoration. Traveling in Portugal is traveling through time. But the historical monuments are not the only witness of the past. In the countryside it sometimes seems as if time has stood still. The donkey as a means of transportation has not changed. What is less known is that Portugal has a fantastic wine and food culture. The many traditional regional specialties are worth discovering for their gastronome par excellence. The ancient dances and songs, which Portuguese folklore is rich in, are honored during the many folk festivals. In short, this is a country of diversities which awaits your discovery. Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is located on the right bank of the Tagus River in the Estremadura region. This vibrant, romantic city is 45 km from Salvaterra and is characterized by lots of history and beautiful views. The best thing in Lisbon, according to the Portuguese, is to meet at the terrace overlooking the statue of Christ the King, on the southern bank of the Tagus. From this picturesque viewpoint you can see an endless series of squares, docks, and buildings including the Monument of Discoveries (built to celebrate the Portuguese who participated in the Age of Discovery of the 15th and 16th centuries. Originally built in 1940 it was rebuilt of concrete in 1960) as well as the Torre de Belem (a 16th century fortified tower). A typical delicacy here is the Pastel de Belem. These are small pies invented a half century ago by some local monks. These pies have a creamy filling and are sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. They are usually accompanied by a delicious local Muscatel wine. A walk through the charming Alfama district is also a must. This popular neighborhood is located on the east side of downtown Lisbon and runs diagonally up to the São Jorge hill. This is a maze of narrow winding streets, gates and stairs. Colored facades with laundry flapping and numerous flower pots make the neighborhood quite unique. There are no chic shops in the streets here, only women selling fish in teh small alleys and hidden 'secret' courtyards. You will also find the typical Portuguese “Fado” houses here. These are small restaurants where traditional Fado (described as “Portuguese blues” it originated in Lisbon during the 19th century) is performed. At the top of the hill there is a romantic spot with unforgettable views. In the courtyard of Castelo de Sao Jorge (a medieval castle) you’ll find a quiet, shady park with several fountains. The view of the city and the climb to the castle is certainly worthwhile. Airport Transfer Service one way ticket: 75 euro, valid for up to 4 people including luggage.
