The house is a celebration of the environment. It reaches out to the mountains, to the forest, to the ocean, echoing the stillness, the vastness and the beauty of the landscape. It is a place of space, light and understated elegance, where high windows embrace the view from every aspect. The wide sweep of the staircase is an invitation to float upwards and stand high above the Wilderness, almost as high as the eagle that wheels and circles in the updrafts, a solitary dark flash of wings against the clear blue sky.The moon is rising over the Outeniqua Mountains - its pale loom soon followed by a golden sliver that backlights the clouds massed around the peaks. Slowly the moon climbs and hangs suspended, throwing the mountains into sharply carved silhouettes against the inky blue sky. Moonlight kisses the long stretch of ocean. A waterbuck steps delicately from the shadows and grazes quietly at the edge of the forest. A wood owl hoots from a tree below and is answered by its mate. There is a rustle in the undergrowth, a faint whisper from the wind.
